从前， 有一只可怕的动物叫年。 它一睡就是三百多天， 醒来就要吃人。
一个神仙告诉人们， 年最怕红色的东西和巨大的响声。 年快来的时候，大家都把红纸贴在门上， 还点着很多竹子。 年看到红纸， 听到竹子发出劈里啪啦的声音， 就吓跑了。

yang gaduh. Waktu Nian hampir datang, semuanya menempel kertas merah di atas

bunyi gaduh dari bambu, lalu berlari ketakutan.
